THE AUCKLAND SHOW
OPENING DAY AWARDS.* By Telegraph—Special to Times. AUCKLAND, Friday. The twenty-seventh annual show of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association was opened at the Campbell Showgrounds to-day. The exhibits this year in some of the sections are more numerous than usual. In the section devoted to horses the blood stock is noticeably absent, with the exception of a couple of entries, but saddle and harness horses are well in evidence, and form a striking display. The section devoted to cattle is a strong one. and Shorthorns, Friesians, Ayrsin res and Jerseys are ail well represented by seme very fine types. Sheep are not a particularly strong section, but the quality shown is aliove reproach in the majority of the classes, and'would be hard to beat in any show in New Zealand. There is a fair showing of •js. and some fine types of Berkshires, Devons, and Tam worths have been penned. The section devoted to home industries and that devoted to horticultural exhibits are exceptionally good, and among the most interesting features of the show. The Kennel Club's exhibition of dogs, too, is a strong feature, and there is a continual stream of visitors to the huge marquee in which the dogs are boused. There are numerous other features of interest about the fixture, all of which combine to place it in that happy position where success is almost to a certainty assured.
