AUCKLAND MARKETS

On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, our supply of fat cattle numbered 2GG head, comprising 194 steers, 67 cows and heifers, and live bulls. The quality of the ox bed was excellent .being the best yarding we have had for many months. ' There was a strong demand throughout. in a few cases of heavy cattle, values were a shade easier, but generally there was little alteration from recent quotations. Heavy vealers, £5 10s to £7 ss, medium £4 2s to £4 10s. lighter £3 12s fid to £3 17s fid, light £2 10s to £3 10s, small and fresh dropped 10s to £2 •*s. weak and inferior 5s to 8s (129 sold). Pigs came forward in record numbers, and in consequence values were easier ,although prices for baconcrs and porkers are still in favour of the vendor. Choppers brought from £5 17s to £9; heavy baconers, £4 5s to £5, I'ghter baconers £3 10s to £4; large porkers. £2 17s to £3 Ss. smaller £2 5s to £2 15s, small £1 10s to £2- shps, 18s to £L 3s; weaners and suckers, 7s to 15s (407 pigs sold). Messi? Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., report having held their weekly sale of fat stock at M estfield on Wednesday, as under;— Beef; A fair yarding , and prices were slightly lower than last week's rates. Choice pens of extra prime ox made up to £2 12s per 1001b. ordinary quality, 48s to 50s; cow and heifer beef, 45s to 50s. Veal: A large yarding. Heavy runners made up to £l3. Medium ditto. £5 10s to £7 os; suckers, £3 to £5 ss; small calves, 4s to 30s. Mutton; A moderate yarding, and prices were lower than last week's rates. Prime extra heavy wethers made up to 495; medium wethers. 39s to 425; store and unfinished wethers, 30s to 36s 6d; heavy ewes, to 395; hoggets, 24s to 295. Pork; A very large warding, which sold at Inte ' rates. Bacon pigs sold equal to 7d per lb; porkers, to 8d per lb, according to quality; small pigs* 10s to los.
