A general strike called by the antiConscriptionists' organisation as a protest against the passage, of the Military Service Bill ended in a fiasco, only 100 attending the demonstration. AUSTRALIAN WOOL HELD UP. —— ■»- (United Press Association.) Received Sept. 1, 10.55 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 1. The woolgrowers have been notified by the State Wool Committee to hold back all wool until oversea shipment has become normal. I.W.W. MEMBERS SENTENCED. (United Press Association.) Received August 31, 10.15 p.m. SYDNEY, August 31. Tom Barker, secretary, a:|l seven members of the I.W.W. were sentenced to six months' imprisonment without the option of a fine. PACIFIST NOT WANTED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received Sept. 1, 1.35 p.m. NEW YORK, August 31. Mr Lochner, who formerly managed Ford's peace agitation, and who was attempting to organise * mid-Western peace convention-at Hudson (Wisconsin), was driven? out of the by the Indignant residents. Other cities, Including Milwaukee, threaten similar action.
