At the condition of the meeting of the Piako County Council yesterday, the chairman, on behalf of the Councili wished the clerk I.Mr Hannaj, good luck and a safe return, on ins leaving to take up his duties at Trentham, that being his last meeting. He leave*! for Trentham at the week-end.
The hand of the lCth Regiment met last night for the purpose of bidding farewell to Bandsman H. Hodgkinson, who has enlisted for active -ervice, and will leave on the 28th inst. Major Rasirick. O.C. Regiment, en behalf of the band presented Bandsman Hodgk'nson with a" shaving !; ; t, and in a ircely chosen speech outline 1 the path ;\m\ duty of a soldier, touched on the good work he had done ior the band and finally concluded by wishing him God speed and a safr return. Mr •J. T. Brown, president of the band, end everal of the bandsmen spoke feelingly to Mr Hodgkinson's credit, and all joined in wishing him a safe return to Hamilton.
