PROGRESS NEAR EPEHY. (High Commissioner's Cable.) LONDON, 12.55 p.m., Wednesday. Sir Douglas Haig reports that we progressed south-eastwards and eastwards of Epehy this morning, and captured Yillers and Guislain, taking some prisoners. We also improved our position at Lagnicourt. Heavy rain continuos. THE GERMAN REPORT. SUCCESSES CLAIMED. (Admiralty per Wireless Press.) Received April 19, 1.30 p.m. LONDON, April 18. A German official message states that the artillery fire is again intense in the sectors of the Arras battlefield. We repulsed French attacks on the Reaulner ridge of the Craonne Heights. North-west of Yille aux Rois Wood, near Legodot, and at Courcy, on the Aisne-Marne Canal, we checked fresh attacks. In Champagne we proceeded by very strong artillery fire on a 20kilometres front. Our counter-attack regained a portion of the wood between Morvon Villers and Auberive. We took 500 prisoners during Monday's fighting. We destroyed 2G armoured cars and brought down 18 aeroplanes.
