Minister for Labour, has been appointed president of the first annual conference of the British Workers' National League, formerly the Socialist National Defence Committee, which has now been placed on a broader and more permanent basis. It includes the prominent Labour leaders, Messrs Mabon, Cook and Seddon, and approves of national military training on Lord Roberts' lines, the exclusion of sweated or bounty-fed alien goods, and a vigorous agricultural policy so as to render Britain nine-tenths selfsupporting.
