VALEDICTORY AT ROTORUA
JUDGE BROWNE FAREWELLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association. ROTORUA, Friday. Valedictories were tendered Judge J. W. Browne, of the Native Land Court, and president of the Waiiriki Land Board district, on leaving for the Aotea district in Wanganui. At a great gathering of natives on Wednesday night at Tamate Kapua appreciative speeches were made and presents thrown. Judge Brown was entertained at a banquet last night at Lake House by representatives of the Waiiriki Land Board district. Mr Sharp, solicitor, Tauranga, presided, and 40 were present, 31 apologies being received from distant friends. The chairman proposed the health of the guest, and presented him with a handsome gold Rotherham watch and chain, and match box. Judge Browne returned thanks, and proposed the Waiiriki district, which was responded to by Messrs King, for Tauranga; Lemon, Te Puke; Grant, Paengaroa; Fleming, Whakatane; Routledge, Raukokore; McDavitt, Morrinsville; Smith, Rotorua; and Butcher, Waiotapu and Taupo.
