The of .Mr F. K. do Castro, Secretary for Education, is announced.
Messrs Thomas Grant and Donald Simcock have been appointed members of the Whatawhata Domain Board in place of Messrs F. Pope and. W. Shepherd, resigned.
Mr Arthur Gillies, who has been appointed honorary expert agricultural adviser to the Efficiency Board for the Auckland Disctrict, will take up his duties at once, and will devote the tfhole of his time to this work. His headquarters will be at the Auckland Town Hall. Mr Gillies, wo formerly was captain of the North Otago Mounted Rifles, has had a long agricultural experience. He took a leading part in the establishment of the North Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, and was its first chairman. .For some years lie successfully conducted a stock and farmers' agency business at Hawera, and he was Mayor of that borough during his last two years' lesidence there. He subsequently resided at Rotorua, and at present he is farming a property of 1060 acres on the Hauraki Plains.
