At a meeting of the Raglan County ! Council en Tuesday, Cr. Eyre state' that lie would shortly be retiring from the Council. The chairman thanked Cv. Eyre for bis service:; on the Council and hoped to see him become a member again at some future date. Mr Andrew Craig, a retire! Civil servant, and a veteran of the Maori War. died at Auckland yesterday. Mr Craig also saw service on the East Coast during Te Kooti's raids. Ho joined the -\rmel Constabulary during the Waikato War, and was in nearly all the principal engagements. Later he joined the Postal Department, and for 15 years was postmaster at Waipu. He was also stationed at Waipukurau and Mntaure (Southland). He retired on suporannuaction four years ago, and since then has resided at Remnera. Deceased is survived by a widow and ten children. Four out of five sons who were eligible enlisted, but one has since been discharged.
