ADVANCE THROUGH PALESTINE

A QUICK MARCH TO GAZA ANTICIPATED. SPLENDID EXPLOITS OF ANZACS AND TERRITOIUALS. (United Service.) LONDON, January 13. The newspapers are discussing the possibility of an advance through by the British forces on the eastern frontier of Egypt. The Manchester Guardian says: "We expect another quick march will bring the Anzacs to Gaza, the key to the coast road, but the country abounds with good defensive positions. If the campaign is to extend to Syria, it will be necessary to cut the railway at Alexandretta." Mr Lovat Eraser, writing in the Daily Mail, says: "The splendid exploits of the Anzacs and territorials are valuable because they are worrying the Turks, but lliere is neither time nor strength to spare for vast adventures in Asia. I believe that General Sir Archibald Murray will some time take Jerusalem, but dreams of a united sweep through Asia Minor and North Arabia -are mere moonshine."
