LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS.

' WELLINGTON, Monday. The High Commissioner's market report, dated January 13, is as follows (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average prices on spot):— Meat.—All descriptions of frozen meat is in active demand owing to short supplies. Prices are higher for frozen meat not under Government control. New Zealand mutton, per lb, Bfd; ew© . mutton, 8d; Argentine mutton, heavy weight Bfd, light weight 9£d; New Zealand, Australian and Argentine lamb, 9£d; New Zealand cow beef, hinds Bd, fores 7d; Argentine chilled beef, .iinds 10£ d, fores Bsd. Butter.—The market has a downward tendency, and prices are easier., Danish, per cwt., 218s to 2205; Australian, salted 196s to 2025, unsalted 195 a to 201s. The New Zealand market has a weaker tone since last report. Salted 204s to 2065, unsalted 208s. Dutch, 204s to 208s. Argentine, salted 198s, unsalted 200s to 2045, American creamery, 1925. Cheese.—The market continues firm. Canadian, white and coloured, per cwt, 138s to 140s; English Cheddar, 144s to 1465; United States flats, 136s to 138$; New Zealand (mutilated word here). Hemp—The market is dull, and prices are irregular. Quotations are nominal. (Jood fair New Zealand hemp, per ton, £6O; fair, £SB; Government-graded fair Manila, £62; coarse, £59; January to March shipment of good fair New Zealand. £6O; fair, £57; Government graded fr.ir Manila, £6O; coarse, £SB. heat.—Offerings are very small. Can get no rclibale information concerning business done. The nominal value of Australian afloat is 82s. Oats.—lhe market is quiet, with a general feeling of uneasiness on account of doubts concerning Government action with regard to grain. New ZeaI land on spot, 50s. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company report:— PATETONGA SALE. At Patetonga on Monday, the 15th, , we held our monthly stock sale, nnd yarded 381 head of cattle a ntl 310 sheep. Competition throughout was keen, and we quitted the whole yarding at good prices. We quote: flood 2-tooth ewes, 34s lOd; 2-tooth wethers, 29s 8d to 31s 10d fat wethers. 375; good lambs, 23s 3d; aged owes, 235;. fat cows, £ll 9s to £l2 17 6d; forward cows, £lO 10<? to £lO ss; 3-year steers. £l3 4s t"> £l3 15s; 2-year steers, £ll 16s: 3-year empty Shorthorn heifers. £9 IBs to £lO 2s; 2i-year Shorthorn heifers ; n ealf, £9 to £9 4s; good 18 r/iontlis heiferr, £6 18s; 18-months steers, £8 4s to £8 10s; good calves (mixed sexes), £4 Is to £4 6s; small calves. £3 fn A3 10s; Shorthorn bulls, £9 10s to £lO 16s.
