There were three passengers in the car; 102 miles from New Plymouth to Wanganui took only 3 hours 9 minutes. Previous record was 3 hours 25 minutes, and the train takes 5£ hours. Wanganui to Palmerston North, the speed averaged 33£ miles per hour—sometimes it was 53 miles. The 221 miles from New Plymouth to Masterton were done at an average of 31 mile# per hour. Featherston to Wellington, over the Rimutakas, occupied only 1£ hours, almost entirely on top gear in a raging gale. Average petrol consumption was 24i miles per gallon. Inspect the Overland 75!
