SHOOTING AFFRAY
A MARTON SENSATION. MAN HIT BY TWO BILLETS. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association. MAR Ti»N, Monday. A shooting affray took place at Marton Junction early on Sunday morning. Robert Elder attempted to enter tli«■ residence of Stephen Kisher, a relurned ■soldier, but failing in tins he was walking away when, it is alleged, Fisher lired several shots at liini from a Win--chesbT rille. One bullet struck a book in KIiI-t's hip pocket, inflicting a llesh wound. and another bullet, struck Elder on the right ribs. He was taken to the Wanganui hospital, but no serious complications are anticipated. Fisher has been arrested, charged With discharging firearms with intent to do bodily harm. He was remanded till January 15th, bail being granted in his own recognisance of £SO and two •sureties of £IOO.
