A TIMELY DECLARATION

MR LLOYD GEORGE'S RECENT INTERVIEW.

NO DISSENSION" IN THE CABINET OR AMONG THE ALLIES.

(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 11, 10.10 p.m. LONDON, October 11

Speaking in the House of Commons, -Mr Richard Holt, Liberal member for the Hexham division of Northumberland, complained of the interview given by Mr Lloyd George to the United Press of America, and the idea of fighting to a finish.

Mr Lloyd George replied that there was no difference between Mr Asquith and himself. He recalled Mr Asquith's declaration that the military domination of Prussia must be wholly and finally destroyed. This was a complete answer to those trying to spread dissatisfaction by asserting that he spoke only for himself. The interview expressed the opinion of the Cabinet and its military advisers and every ally. Neutral intervention would have been a military triumph for Germany, and a disaster for the Allies. As Secretary of State for War, he had a right to prevent such a disaster. The interview was timley—how timely would be revealed in due course.
