The action concerns the ownership of £500,000 worth of gold, and ha s lasted 144 davs. The legal fight has cost £150,000. Judgment was reserved. AMERICAN LABOUR TROUBLES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) • Received September 24, 5.5 p.m. NEW YORK, September 23. The Unionist leaders have ordered 800,000 New York unionists of all kinds to strike on the 27th inst. in support of the car men. FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA. (United Service.) Received September 24, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, September 24. The drought has broken. Broken Hill town is partially flooded. MELBOURNE, September 24. Incessant heavy ram has fallen for two days, and still continues. Some low-lying suburbs are flooded, and the residents in several houses had to be rescued in boats. Heavy floods are reported from some of the country districts. Rain was greatly wanted, and will do immense good.
