GOOD PRICES FOR CATTLE. MARKET RETURNS AT HAMILTON. The weekly stock sale, held in the Hamilton yards yesterday, was marked by good entries of cattle, sheep ••»• «1 pigs. There vas a large attendance of buyers, and the demand throughout the sale was a very active one, with the re-t suit that prices all found were highly satisfactory. Buyers showed a keen \iess for the fat sheep lines penned, while all classes <-f cattlo were eagerly competed for, under the hammer. Taking a line through yesterday's prices, the best ox beef could be set down as ruling at 45s per 1001b, with cow beef of the best quaUty ranging from 41s to 44b. All classes of grown cattle were eagerly sought after, but it was noticeable that yearling sorts were a little easier in demand than has been the experience at other recent sales.
The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company yarded 520 cattle, 1160 sheep and 149 pigs. quote: Fat pigs, 55s to 755; porkers, 28s to 395; weaners, 12s to 20b; fat ewes, 38s; small wethers, 265; fat hoggets, 29s 3d to 325; small hoggets,. 21s. 6d to 22s 3d; prime fat bullocks, £l3 12s to £ls M)s; prime fat cows, heavyweights, £l2 5s to £ls 15s; medium fat cows, £lO 10s; light sorts, £8 10s to £9 6s; 3£-year bullocks £l2 4s; 2i-year bullocks, £9 5s to £9 15s; store cows, £6 5s to £9 2s; 2-year steers, £8 16s; 2-year empty heifers, £6 6s; best yearling steers, £6 Is to £6 17s; best yearling heifers, £4 12s to £5 ss; small yearling steers, £4 2s to £5 ss; small yearling heifers, £3 4s to £3 18s; mixed yearlings, £4 10s; small vearlings, £2 13s to £3; cows and calves £9. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. report: Fat bullocks, £ls Is; fat cows, £8 17s 6d to £l2 los; store cows; £7 12s 6d to £9; 3-year steers £lO 4s to £l2; yearlings, £4 10s to £8 6s.
