FIGHTING ON THE MEUSE

STUBBORN ENEMY ATTACKS. REPELLED WITH HEAVY LOSSES. (High Commissioner's Cable). LONDON, 11.10 a.m., Thursday. French official: On the right hank of the Meuse the enemy stubbornly endeavoured to regain ground between Cuillemoiit station and the quarry. After a bombardment the infantry reached the parapet in places, but after a sharp struggle they were repelled. The enemy suffered heavy losses. After this failure he intensely bombarded our positions. At Hohenzollern redoubt the enemy shelled us heavily, and attempted a raid, but it completely failed to reach our lines.
