One who, saw Ireland at its worst when landlordism was intolerable and the condition of the people deplorable, passed away at his residence, Invercargill, last week, in the person of John Sheehan, who was 88 years of age at the time of his death. The deceased experienced the trials and troubles of those dark days when, in order to pay the exorbitant rent charged, many were forced to go to England occasionally, find work, and with their earnings re* turn. The late Mr Sheehan decided to try his foritmes in New Zealand, and 35 years agb he and Mrs Sheehan, with their family, set out for the Dominion.
