ARBOR DAY APPROACHES
PLANTING OF TREES. REMINDER TO THE PUBLIC. Arbor Day is fast approaching, and last night Mr W. Auld asked, at a mooting of the Hamilton Beautifying Society, whether the Society proposed to lead the town in the matter of treeplanting. He bad, be said, no particular thoughts on the matter, but it might be possible that certain members of the Society had proposals to make. ;vir Worsiey remarked that every day was an Arbor Day with the Beautifying Society, and so far as they were I concerned most of the planting had been done. Mention was made by a member of the bare state of the bank alongside the Hamilton East School, and Mr P. Stevens headmaster said that if | - i i suitable shrubs or trees were provided lie would undertake to have them planted. Mr A. K. Manning considered that some definite scheme should bo undertaken in regard to the bank, and that it should bo the simple one of planting it out boldly in one special specie of tree. As the foreman intimated that he could procure a plentiful supply of young wattles, it was decided to provide Mr Stevens with several thousand for planting Mr Auld considered that it was as well In remind i!i■ public that Arbor 1 lay w:s near, in order ihat they may undertake tree-planting of some description. *-
