QUEEN OF THE CARNIVAL.
WELLINGTON ELECTION. By Telegraph.— Press Association. WELLINGTON, Monday. The Queen Carnival Competition closed on Saturday night, resulting in Miss Doughty, the cmmeieial travellers' candidate being elected with 1,753,251 vote:; valued at £14,610. Miss McCormack, the Trentham boys' candidate, with 1,703,475 votes was second, and Miss Senior, the Petone, candidate, 980,919 votes, third. The total votes received by the queen candidates were 7,039,017, valued at £63,643. This, with the money held by rho Mayor, will bring the fund for the .vounded soldiers and their dependents to approximately £75,000. The queen's coronation will take place to'-night.
