DEBARRED FROM ENLISTING

POLICEMEN'S COMPLAINTS. By Telegraph.H-Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. Several policemen complain that people have practically accused them of cowardice, because they have not enlisted for the front. Commissioner Cullen pointed out that the Department could not accept resignations of policemen when they were for the purpose of enlisting, also that the Military authorities would not accept policemen. Mr Cullen stated that the Department could not keep pace with the applications for more policemen, and it would constitute a serious menace to the community if any were allowed to go to the front.
