The Hoit. R. H. Rhodes' (Post-master-General and .Minister for.Public Healthy returned to Wellington from Auckland by last evening's express train.
At a meeting of the Temuka branch of the Reform League last night Colonel J. T. M. Ha)hurst, .Mayor of Temuka, was announced as the Reform candidate for that electorate at the next election.
Nurse McKinver, at present engaged on the staff at the Cambridge Sanatorium, was to-day appointed by the Waikato Hospital Board to act as a district nurse in the Tangitu district of the King Country, in place of Nurse Smith, who was compelled to resign through ill-health.
Mr George Nicholl Gil more, aged 70 years, was found dead, outside his whare 011 the Tokatea Hill at CormandeJ yesterday riiorning by Mr Kelly. The deceased had resided on the Tokatea for many years.
Although it has been generally understood thaj 'Mr Diamond Jenness, of Lower Hutt, who was a member of the Stefansson Arctic Expedition was safe all doubt has now been removed. His fattier, Mr G. A. Jenness, Lower Hutt, a cablegram from Ottawa, "Jenness safe."
