QUARANTINE ACT

MELBOURNE, Sept. 18. Vessels trading between New Zealand and Australia, excepting passenger 'boats, are exempted from the provisions of the Quarantine Act, provided that they are not from a proclaimed port.
DROWNED IN THE SURF

Two brothers named Nicol were drowned while surf bathing at Thirrol.
MISSIONARY MURDER.

A member of the Evangelical Mission, who has returned from the Solomons, states that the recent murder of the missioner Daniels at Ma. laita was not the outcome of interference with native customs, out because he was a European. A price was placed on the heads of whites, anid every native was paid for killing them.

PEACOCK MURDER CASE

Two female employees of Dr. PeaC"c*v gave evidence that they saw Miss Davies in the hospital. Dr. Peacck arranged iY>r both to take a holiday prior to the girl's disappearance. He warned 'one not to mention anything about the place.
