FAIR AT CAMBRIDGE.
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. (Own Correspondent.) The &nnu(al Fancy Fair -and Art tjfeJLon umlHer -tine auspices of St(. Peter's Church, Cambridge, was opened by the Mayor (Mr G. Dickinson) at 8 p.m. last Tuesday, and will be continued afternoon and evening until Saturday. The attendance so far has been fair, but not up to previous years, the wet weather probably accounting for the falling off. The following ladies were in charge of the stalls :—Fancy work stall : Meedames McVeagh and McCarthy, assisted Ibiy Mrs Grace, Misses Kil- ■ H? O'Kieefe, J, Carr* .O'Connor, McVeagh, Burke and Robinson (Matamata) Plain and Needlework: Mesdaanes Lomax and A. Wilkinson, assisted by Misses Gow, Lomax, and O'Keefe. Produce Stall : Mesdames A. Beangie and J. McCann, assisted by Misses Beange, McCann and Dywer. Toy Stall: Misses Plesohier. Sweet Stall : Miss K. Swayne, assisted by v Misses B. Swayne and Mr Swayne. Refreshment Room : Mesdames Lundon and Cameron, assisted by Misses Dougherty,; Goddard, E. Bell, and A. Garr. A Telegraph Department, managed lyy local telegraph boys where messages could be sent and received for a small charge was a novel feature. The Cambridge band played selections outside the hall previous to the opening ceremony, and during • the evening the girls ol the Convent School went through a course of club drill very gracefully. The art union will be drawn on Friday. The secretarial duties are in the capable hands of Mr J. Byrne w-ttch insures the arrangements laettng successful.
