HAMILTON HARRIERS.
A meeting was held in Messrs Jones and W'hitton's shop last evening to consider the formation of a Harrier Club in Hainilton. There was a fair attendance with Mr J. Hammond in the chair, A letter of apology for absence was received from Mr M. McArthur, wishing the Club all success. Mr Jones, in moving that a Harrier Club be formed said that there were all the prospects of success, and that ifchey need not be disappointed if they had to commence in a small way, for the Caversham Club in Dunedin which started with a membership of six bad to-day a membership of ninety, sixty of whom were running members. Mr Peters seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The Club is a purely amateur body and is not dependent on any other club. On the motion of Mr Varney it was decided, to call the club the " Hamilton Harrier Club," and the club colors were decided on as green, with a badge to distinguish members from the A'mateur Athletic Club's colors. The following officers were elected : —President, Mr H. Tristram ; vicepnasfildents, Messrs H. J. Greemslade, M.P., R. Bollard, F. R. Seddon, J. Varney,, 'and Col. A. Bell. Captain, Mr F. Jones ; deputy-captain, Mr Bennett ; committee : Messrs Vincent S. Davis, W. Peters and the president, captain* and depiutyt-oaptain ; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Qualtrough ; auditor, Mr G. R. Wylie ; bandicapper and selector, Mr J. Hammond ; delegate) to the Hamilton Amateur Athletic Club, F. Jones. The subscription was fixed at 5/for active members and 2/6 for honorary members. The framing of rules was left in the hands of the committee. Twenty-five names were handed in as intending members, and the meeting concluded 'with a vote of thanks to Mr Hammond, Mr Speight (who had acted as 'secretary pro. tem), and Mr Jones for the use of his roott'. An informal meeting of the committee was then held, when it was decided to hold a meeting on Monday next iat 8 p.m., to fix the time and place for the opening run.
WOMEN'S WALKING RECORD

(Received Sept. !2, 9.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 12. Mrs piar'v, a New Zealander, has established a record for women walkers. Accompanied by a packman, carrying the impediments, sh3 travelled afoot from Melbourne to Sydney, the journey occupying five weeks. She slept in the open.
