MR GREENSLADE ANNOUNCES HIMSELF.

MAY STAND FOR RAGLAN

WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Mr H. J.'Greenslade, the present member, states that he will again be a candidate for Waikato at the general election against all comers. There is, it is rumoured, a probability of the Hon. Thos. Mackenzie standing- for Raglan.

MR F. LAWRY'S DENIAL

WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Mr Lawry, member for Parnell. states that there is not a word of truth in the persistent rumour which has been extensively circulated in Auckland, that he has been oiSered a seat in the Legislative Council. He adds that he has never spoken to a Minister cn the question of the appointment indicated, and no Minister has spoken to him even in a casual way about it. The Prime Minister stated last evenine that no appointments would be made to the Legislative Council until after the general election. In the interim no consideration would be given to th; matter.
