THE AUCKLAND SESSIONS

At the Supreme Court the following sentences were passed: Karl Hellstrom, theft of jewellery, six months; John Hammond, forgery, four years; William Thompson, theft of portmanteaux, threeyeura.
I George Frederick Falkiner, a postal employee, for the thefi. of £9 at Whangarei, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. An elderly man named John Manning was sentenced to five years' imprisonment for causing actual bodily harm to William Ho! is, a mine j manager, at Cororaandel, on Deceoij ber Ist. The assault was one of | stabbing with a Hheaih knife, and Mr | Justice Denniston characterised the | case as one of murderous assault, the j act of a man who was not safe to lie ut large. | A thirteen year-old boy narn'd Geo. William Angus was found guilty of an indecent assault on a young girl and was recommended to mercy on account of i.is extreme youth. The Jud-e ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon.
