THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.
A POLICY OF PUSH
WELLINGTON, Thursday. Thirty co-operative dairy comr ponies in the southern districts of the North Island have appointed an officer to represent them on the British markets. The gentleman selected is Mr Charles MacKie. ol Wellington, chief of the office of the London and Manchester firm of Messrs Pearson and Rutter. The galary is £6OO per annum, with travelling allowances and clerical assistance. This will be met by a tax on the output of factories. According to the New Zealand Times, Mr MacKie is 40 years of aee. He had a sound commercial | in the city of Dundee, and after coming to the colony, he spent L BU years on the bush farm. Asso- * ciating himself with the dairy industry, as secretary of the Eltham Dairy Company, he has devoted ten years to. the business, the last two years of which he has been with his present employers. In addition to being one of the most solid men in the industry, Mr MacKie has an t- intimate 'acquaintance witn tDe de " tails of the manufacturing eud of the business, and is regarded as one of the most capable factory secretaries the colony has seen.
