Ragwort, that used to be so prevalent in this district, has been well checked evidencing the good results obtained through stocking with sheep. Not only has the ragwort been kept down, but the pastures have improved Travellers passing through have been greatly surprised at the absence of ragwort and think that it is not the same place that they heard of, as it was f&m'Ad for rag '-vat. The Te R m-a-moa Butter factory is goinrf well this season, out of 33 factories Oom r peting at the Auckland Show, Te Rauamoa came seventh, not bad considering the distance that it had to bo reaching the railway. The supply ii higher now than for the correponding period list season. Mr Thos. Alloook, manager, deserves great credit for the way in which the butter is turning out, his grades at the present time being 93. During the last month fully 1000 head of cittle passed through to the Ohaupo sales, and lettlers generally have been pleased with the prices obtained On Friday the telegraph party, Mr Hargi.od, reached Te Rau-a-moa the wire, and the office will be opened in a few days, 'he establishment of the telegraph will be much appreciated by the back blockers. The line is now being continued on to Te Awaroa (Hauturu Post Office) and from thence on to Kinohaku. Mr Sam Stewart, of Oparau, has the contract for the conveyance of mails between Pirongia and Kawhia for the next ttiree years. Messrs Randall and Smith have just erected a new dwelling-house on their property, opposite the school, and itia quite an addition to the plaoe. The school broke up for the Christmfti holidays last Friday.
