The Belgian Chamber of Deputies continues heatedly to discuss tlie future of the Congo Free State. The Socialists declared that the rights of the natives were treated with contempt. The Government eulogised the Congo's marvellous development, and deprecated criticisms. The leaders declared that the King desired to confer on Belgium absolute sovereignty over this region.
