♦- THE NEW HEBRIDES. ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS. LONDON, November 14. Mr Winston Churchill, in reply to questions said vigorous steps were progressing to improve the condition prevailing in the Chinese compounds. There would be no further recruiting in British Central Africa for the Rand underground labour. If the Commonwealth Government desire to recommend candidates for the new offices in the New Hebrides, Lord Elgin would carefully consider such recommendations.
