It was now working between Ngarato and Paterangi. In reference to the purchase of a second giader, he had not yet obtained one, as that (ffered was priced at too high a figure. Cr. Mack ay and he had inspected the drain at Mr Germann's, and had decided that Mr Germann get the work done, the Council and Mr Sing each to pay for four chains at 6a per chain. He recommended a new bridge over the outlet drain near Mr Sing's, at a cost of .£SO. Mr G. Good progress was being made with the contract ou the Te Awamutu-Kihikihi road. Regarding the balance of the two miles of road affected, he oonßidered an nnual contribution of JM per annum would be sufficient. In order that the settlers should not be put to too great actual outlay, they now asked the Council to grant them iSO in order to make up the fuli amount on which subsidy was claimable.—Cr.
