MORRINSVILLE NEWS

From Our Own Correspondent. We were lavoured with a visit frool some of our County Councillors last week, who, with the road foreman, came to inspeot the grading in front of Mr E. Jones' new premises. It is to be hoped something wi7i soon be done in the matter, as at present it is a disgrac3 to our principal street. Whilst the weather remains fine,is the time to fill up and give the gravel a chance of hardening. Mr Driver's little boy met with a nasty accident at Waitoa on Tuesday night Coming out of the shed, he fell on a piece of glass and sustained a deep wound below the ankle, which partially divided the nyiin artery. All attempts to arrest the bleedine proved fruitless, so the boy was at one® Iriven in to Dr. Seville, who attended to his injury, which was of such a nature as to necessitate his remaining overnight. The little fellow is now progressing favourably. Mr Jenkins, of Tahuna, has also been in Morrinaville for the past week, for repairs to a poisoned wound of the hand which we are glad to__ rep >rt i« now much better. Morrinaville prt-sented quite a deserted, uppearence on Friday as everyone was away at the show. Ic is satisfactory to know that many prizes came into thia district, and the number would probably have been greater, but for the accident! which have occurred to local stook during the past month. On Friday 23rd we are to have a grand minstrel entertainment in aid of the Library. The troupe is composed of looal ta! A a w t g ? od work >ng committee, , with Mr W. Weeks as Secretary, is busy making all the final arrangements. The rehearsals have been kept strictly private, and not muoh is known, beyond the faot that the troupe are doing well and there it every prospect of a successful and enioyable entertainment.
