♦ NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANIILE AGENCY CO'S, LTD., REPORT. Horses have been brought forward in increased numbers. The attendance at the Durham Yards on Friday was good, and for anything of a working stamp competition was keen. Heavy draughts sold at from X 27 10s to X 39; medium, do., £lB 10s to X 33 ss; hacks and light harness horses, X 5 58 to X2l; dogcart, £ls 10s ; tazcart, £l2. Northern Sales.—On Friday, at Maungaturoto, there was a fair muster of stock, which sold at late rates. On Monday, at Weilsford, there was an average yarding On Wednesday, at Warkworth, more than the advertised number came forward. On Thursday, at Puhoi, there wbb a small muster. We quote for these sales: Dairy cows at from £3 10.< to X 5 5;; empty cows, £1 17s to £i 19s; grown steers, XI 10s to X 5 15s; two to three-year old steers, £2 10s to £3 15s; calves, 15s to XI 8s; yearlings £1 14s to £2 os; beef at Newmarket rates. On Monday, at Papakura, we held a special sale of dairy cows, heifers, bulls, etc. We yarded 300 head odd head. Dairy cows were dull of sale and sold at from £3 5s to £6 10s; baokward do., £2 10s to £i; springing heifers, £3 15s to X 5 15s. Hulls, yarded in large numbers, were better worth, gooi sorts selling at from £b 5s to £8 2s M i other sorts, £2 5s to X 4 10s. Beef—Steers, £6 5s to X 8; cowl, XI to £6 2s 6d, fully Newmarket rates. Cittle. —At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers, and an average supply of beef. Dairy oows sold at from £3 10s to XG 10s | empty do., £1 15s to X 3 15s; calves, 13s to 265. Bidding for bdef was keen and advanced on last weeks rates, oxen selling to 24s per 1001b, and in some cases 25s was reached; oow, 17s to 20s. Fat steers sold at from £6 10s to XII 7s 6d; no extra heavy weights yarded. Cows, £i 108 to X 7 10s. Sheep were yarded in larger numbers than usual and met a keen competition, wethers Belling at from 17s 61 to XHis 61; ewe?, 18s to XI 4s. Lambs, in full supply, Bold well at from 12s 9d to 17s 3d j hoggets, 12s 61 to 17s. Figs.—Porkers sold at from XI Is to XI 17s; weaners, 5s 61 to 12 s 6d; baconers, XI 10s to X2 16s. During the week we sold Mr P. I. Quillard's farm at E mgiriri to Mr Fr.ncl Harding, of Hawko'a Bay, at a satisfactory figure. We submitted a large catalogue of hides skins, and tallow on Tuesday, all lines being sold under good competition. Hides.—Market easier.—We quote extra stout ox, 8d to BJd ; stout do, 7Jd to 7JI; medium do, o£d to 7}i; light do, 6|d to 6Jd; cow best linei (dry), 6Jd to 6| i ; good, 6}d to fig 1; wet, ojd to 01; kips, 5Jd to o'£d; stags, Ud to 4f 1; calfskins, 6 \i to 7d; horse bidee, \h to lis. Sheepskins.—Market firm. Beat butohers'skins, large, 7s to 8s 6d ; medium, 5s 6d to 6s 3d; small, 4s to ss; pelts. Is 7d to Is lid ; lambskins, Is 8d to Is 101. Tallow.—Market advanced. Best mixed, up-to 26s 9d; good, 25s 3d to 26s ; medium, 24s to 24b Od ; inferior, 20s to 22, 6d ; rough. fat, Ifd per lb. Bones, X 4 15s. Cowtails, Is 6d dozen. Horsehair, Is 4|i to Is 7d. Wool, in bagß and dumps,—Fine orossbred, BJd to 9Jd; coarse orossbred, •>, 1 to 7}i; pieces, 31 to 4Jd; locks, 21 to 2Jd; dead wool, 6i to 6fd. Maize is selling freely, at 3a 2d c.i f. for wholesales lines. Oats have eased to 2s 7d ex store for B grade. Chaff is worth XI 12s Od at the rail. Wheat.—Firm at 3s 81 ex store. Potatoes. —Stocks are light, and the market has advjnced to XII 5s ex store. Butter.—The demand is good for prime separator at lOd ; second quality, 01 to OJd ; poor, 81 to Bjd. 1
