(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., last night. A married woman named Susan Cole was arrested here late yesterday afternoon on a charge of having in or about the month of June last at Palmerston North used certain in- - -struments upon Agnes Maughan, a married woman, with intent to procure abortion. Accused was before the Police Court this morning, and oil the application of the police was remanded for eight days. The police stated that the woman operated upon ■was between life and death, and had in fact been given up by a doctor. Application by accused's counsel for bail was refused. DEATH OF THE PATIENT.
