At the meeting of the Hamilton Domain Board last night, Cr. Young raised the question of the charge made for graves at the East and West cemeteries. During discussion the information was elicited that the ground at neither was free for all time, but, as thoy oome under The Cemeteries Act only those who purchised sections within the space of two years after first utilising tbom had exclusive right over them fur all time. For the fitst time in the oducaticnal istory of ilunilton, ex munitions for matriculation will be held he-e, to take place iu about a month's time. Twelve candidates will go from tho Hamilton High S hool, and there may be others from outside schoo'e.
Ihe inclement, weather prevented many young f'nlks from attending lb i dance at Jlatangi on Wednesday. About ten ccuples turned up and had a merry time till 12 o'clock. Ihe next dance, to be held on Wednesday, tho 12th of December, will be in fancy dre-.s, and is sure to be well attended.
A meeting of those interested in the formation of an athletic club in Frankton was held in Mr Gosling's office last evening, Mr S. Knight occupying the chair. Those present affirmed tho desirability of starting a club, details of wlrch will be discussed at a meeting to be held in a few days ; in the meantime the distiict will be canvassed for upport. Mrs Harriet Drake, who, on August 18th, 1902, was convicted on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the death of one of her children, and was sentenced by Mr Justice Edwards on November 24 following to six years' imprisonment with hard labour, was released from the Terrace Gaol on fhursday on the ground that she is in failing health. The WaikatoArt Union and Fancy Fair is advertised in our columns to-day. Holders of art union blocks are asked to send them in at once. The Art Union will be drawn publicly in the marquee on November 9th, the seoond night of the Waikato t how. Art union tickets admit to the fair, failing which a charge of sixpence will be made.
We would remind those interested of the clearing sale to be held at Kihikihi on Monday, by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company. Mr J. Kewish, having sold his farm, is disposing of his whole valuable dairy herd, horses, young cattle, etc, particulars of which may be found on another column. Luncheon will be provided at 11 o'clock, sale at 11.30. On Tuesday the Company hold their Ohauposale. A large entry has been received of 3 and 4-yeir-old bullocks, including 60 very fresh from Te Akau. Springing heifers, cows and young cattle will also be yarded in go id numbers. Sale starts at 12 o'clock sha'p wilh tho dairy cows.
