AN AMERICAN ELECTION.
TAMMANY EXPOSURES. NEW YORK, November 1. The New York Evening Post exposes a compact between Mr W, R. Hearst and Mr Murphy, the Tammany " boss," to give Tammany ten judgeships in the event of Hearst being elected Governor of New York state. The paper also prints the Court recoids showing the libel actions commenced against Mr Hearst with damages aggregating one million pounds. x
. MR HEARST DENOUNCED. NEW YORK, November 2. Mr Elihu Root, Secretary of State, speaking at Utika, on behalf of President Roosevelt, fiercely denounced Mr Hearst as an insincere self-seeking demagogue.
