PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

OPENING SERVICES. Yesterday the opening services in connection with St. Paul's Primitive Methodist Church Hamilton, were continued. In the morning the Hev. P. W. Jones preached from the text " For the Lord hath chosen Zion, He hath desired it for his habitation." In the afternoon Mr W. F. Mason was chairman and the Kev. P. W. Jones gave an address on " Old Time Primitive Methodism," and "Old Methodist hymns" were also rendered. The evening service was in memory of the late Mrs Mairs, wife of the Rev. P. J. Mairs, minister of the church. The R6V. W. S. Potter, who oocupied the pulpit, gavs a brief outline of Mrs Mairs' life and character. She was born in 1863, at Liverpool, married in 1883, at Warrington, Lancashire, and cime to New Zealand 16 years ago, He closed by quoting the words of the hymn, "For ever with the Lord," which was then sung, many of those present being much affeoted. This sermon was based on a text from Timothy, " I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith," and dealt with the value of christian counsel and the blessedness of the christian life. He quoted John Ivaox and John Wesley on the value of the christian life.
