♦ Mr Ledingham, who is one of the Auokland representatives in the New Zealand team, left for Sydney on Monday last. The other Auckland members of the team leave for Sydney on October 1. Mr A. H. Nicoll, who has filled the position of accountant for Messrs Souter and Co.. Cambridge, for a year or more, leaves shortly to take up a responsible position in Auckland. Mr W. K. Blow, the offioer in charge of the Auokland Tourist Office, is at present visiting the Waitomo Caves and the Wanganui Kiver. He will return on Wednesday. On Saturday evening a number of members of the No. 1 Junior football team waited on Mrs Moore at her residence, for the purpose of making a slight ac- . knowledgement of her kindness in so often providing refreshments on the football field. The presentation, which took the form of an enlarged photograph of the , team, was made by Mr N. Coombes, vice , captain. The photo will be on view for a , few days in the window of the New Zea- , land Clothing Faotory, Hamilton. One of those pleasant little ceremonies . that soften somewhat the regret inseparable from the severance of old associations took place in the Waiakato Times offioe on Saturday afternoon, when Mr S. V. . Bracher, who is retiring from the editorial chair after three and a half years' occupancy, was presented with a sutot twenty standard ' works, including McCarthy's "History ot Our Own i ime3 " and Macauley's " History . of England." Mr R. J. Pa.utl, the proprietor, acting on behalf of himself and the , stall', spoke in highly appreciative terms oi the manner in which Mr Bracher had ; always fulfilled his onerous duties, and ot the oordial relations existing between the recipient and all with whom he came in contaot. It was a surety that Mr Bracher would distinguish himself in the larger sphere he was about to enter, _ and he went with the best wishes of a large number of personal and business friendß. Mr Bracher, in acknowledging the presentation, referred briefly to the aid he had received from the staff, and from the proprietor. Afterwards the health of the departing one was honoured in bumpers. Yesterday evening members of St. Andrew's Bible Class me°t at the .Rev. J. JjJ. Adams' retidence ana presented Mr Bracher with a serviceable leather handbag as a memento of the gre.it interest he evinced in the olass work. Mr Bracher with Mrs Bracher, left by the eaily train this morning, en route for Christchurcb, where he takes a position on the staff of the Press. Mr Hastings Braddell, of the Stratford Post, succeeds him on this journal.
