MrT. Y. Seddm, M.H.R, is still on the West Coast, going round his electorate. Atapublio meeting it was decided to accord Sir Joseph Ward a public reception on his arrival at Wellington. Mr W. W. Mason has received the appointment of Government valuer for the Kawhia district vioe Mr F. A. Pearson, Mr H. H. Ostler, L.L.8., associate to his ionor the Chief Justice, has been appointed editor of the New Zealand Law 14' cords, at a salary of J6150 par annum, with the right to practice as birrtster. Mr W. J. Culv»r, ex-secretary of the Liberal aud Labour Federation, who has just been appoiniel factory inspector for Napier district, left Wellington for Napier on Monday morning to take up hia new duties. Mr T. H. Marshall, who, since his arrival in the colony little more than a year ago, has worked in the mines and the brick yard, left Huntly on Saturday for Auckland to take up the duties of his new officemissionary to seamen under the auspices of the Bishop of Auckland. A very pleasant ceremony took place at Te A.roha last Thursday evening, when Mr Mason, on behalf of the local railway staff, presented Mr Brennaa with a handsome silver-mounted walking-stick. Mr Kirkpatrick (stationmaster), on behalf of the carters, presented Mr Brennan with a handsome dressing case.
