We receive the news with the deepest regret, which we are sure wiil be very widely shared, as Mr Morton was respected (and indeed one might say loved) by all who knew him. He was book-keeper and cashier in the Waikato Times office, having filled that position for ab)Ut a year to the complete satisfaction or his employer. Abut three months ago he started evening classes for adults in various subjects, which he was well quilified to teach, as he was a graduate of the New Zealand University, and had been rosident master at Prince Albert College, Auckland. He had contemplated entering the Congregational ministry, but the matter was not yet set- ' tied, though he had preached acieptably | at the Beiesfcrd street Church, Auckland, t and had conducted services for the Presby- | teriitn Cl'uich iu Waikato. He was a leading member of the St. Andrew a Y ung Men's Class, Hamilton. His age was about 23. The cause of death was typhoid. It was only last Wednesday week that ho left this offi ;e never to return. Our deepest s; mpathy is with his mother and the brothers and eis'ers who m »urn w.th us the loss of a young man ;. beautiful character, high talents and great j promise. The funeral takes place at Auckland to- j morrow.
