The New Zealand Loan and Merc intile Agency Company have been favoured by instructions from Mrs E. H. Aubin, of Pirongia, to hold a clearing sale of all household furniture, dairy cows, horses, harness, etc., on the 14th inst. The sale will be held in the Public Hall, Pirongia. Owing to the shortage of waggons, Ralph's and the Extended mine s ; at Huntly' stopped work at three p.m on Wednesday. Yesterday the Extended was idle, but Ralph's started in the morning with 15 trucks. Before eleven o'clock all the trucks were tillel, the miners being kept awaiting to supply the 12 o'clock goods train.

A large number of nominations have been made to fill the position on the Auckland Harbour Board vacated by Mr F. IS. Baume, M.H.R., and the Auckland Liberal and Lapour Federation decided ];i=t night to enter the lists in the hope of securing direct representation for Labour. During discussion on the subject, Mr J. ft. Lundon said ho noticed that there were a number of nominations, and he heard on good authority that the position had already been offered to a wealthy gentleman residing iu the heart of the wilds wf Raglan, but, to his credit, ho declined. It was decided to refer the matter to tho council aud executive to make a nomination.
