Eventually the horsei had to be abandoned, aid hiLer considerable delay the p irtv crossed in the ferry. Mr Greeuslade tbeii vowed that if elected he would see that a bridge was erected at this point for the convenience of the settlers. His efforts have been crowned with success, and in response to his representations he has been informed by the Hon. Hall-Jones, Minister for .die Works, that £IOOO is available for *ie erection of the bridge, and that the necessary authority has been issued to the District Roads Engineer.
