TRAGEDY AT TE AWAMUTU

SUPPOSED SUICIDE OF A BOY

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TE AWAMUTU, Last Night.

A lad twelve years of age, named Harry Bosanko, was found dead to-day near Mr Collins' office in the township, with a bullet wound through his temple. He had been missing since Friday, and it is iupposed that he then committed suicide. The body was very much decomposed. His mother resides here.

From Our Own Correspondent A shocking discovery was made in one of the by-streets close to the centre of the township at mid-day yesterday (Monday). Whilst a young lad named Edward Maynail was searching for he a eggs in some fern and scrub, he came across the body of Master Harry Bosanko, a youth 12 years of age, the only son and child of the late Mr Richard Bosanko, of Te Awamutu. It appears that on Friday last young Bosanko borrowed a pea rifle and went shooting. As he failed to return the same evening, his mother came to the conclusion that the lad had, as on previous occasions, gone to visit Mr Fred Gibson, his uncle, who resides at Maugapiko, soma four miles out, but the subsequent finding of the body only proves that the unfortunate lad did not reach his uncle's. Constable McPhee was close at hand when the matter was reported to him, and on his removing the body found the pea rifle under the deceased. The empty case of a discharged cartridge was found in the riflb. The lad was last seen alive at about t p.m., on Friday last and from the decomposed state of the body, it is quite evident that he met hia death about that date. An inquest was commenced in the Courthouse last evening before Mr J. B. Teisdale, coroner. Dr. Brewis, of Hamilton, stated that he had made a post mortem examination and found the buhet produced. It had entered the left side and passed through the heart and lodged near the spine. After taking the evidence of Dr. Brewis, the inquest was. on the application of the police, adjourned until Wednesday evening.
