Mr Gordon MacDiarmid, of New Plymouth, brother of Mr C. L. MacDiarmid, of Hamilton, has started for Edinburgh, where he will pursue his medical fctudies. Mr F. C. J. Cockburn has been appointed art instructor for Hamilton, under the Education Board, and will b <gin work at the Hamilton West school after the vacation. Mr W. ,1. Culver, general secretary of the Liberal and Labour federation, of New Zealand, has b j eu presented with a purse of sovereigns and an illuminated address, in recognition of his service^.
