PROGRESS AT WAINGARO.

'Ware pleased to hear of .the rapid progress in settlement which is going on in the bush districts about Waingaroiand extending from, there right throygh to Huntly. We'are informed that all the available blocks of land in the above district have been taken tip, and there is still an unsatisfied demand' for land, We can -quite understand this, as the land, though in irioat cases originally covered with bush, is of good quality, and when felled and sown, grows magnificent grass. The land tenure also is a most liberal one. Quite a number of flocks of sheep are now giazing upon the Waingaro pastures, which, being of a hilly nature, appear to be very suitable for the purpose, and Ave shall be surprised if some sheep are not sent over lo our central market'. During the present season about 9000 sheep will be shorn, the wool going to the Auckland market, via Raglan.' If a good dry road existed between Waingaro and Ngaruawahia, much of this wool would be sent that way, and thence by rail to town. With the rapid increase of settlement the necessity for better road communication between the railway and these western settlements becomes greater. We know :if no district in which a considerable expenditure in this direction would be more justified than from Ngaruawahia through Waingaro, and on to Raglan.
