TAUWHARE.
A most successful dmice was held in the school-house at Tauwhare on Friday, the Kith inst., to bid farewell to Mr and Miss Speake, who are leaving the neighbourhood. Everything went off without a hitch and Mr Ben Jones, the lion, secretary, deserves a large share of praise for the niani.tr in which things generally were carried out. During the evening an address was read by Mr U Hill, signed by the net-tiers in Tanwhare, thanking Mr Speake for his courtesy and eulogising him for his unfailing care and attention while no the cheese factory, and wishing both him and Miss Speake health, happiness and prosperity in ths future. Mr Speake briefly and suitably responded. Between 40 and 50 couples were present and dancing was kept up right merrily until about 4 a.m. It would be hard to pick out the belle of the evening from the many pretty and welldressed voting ladies present. Mr James Lines officiated most ably as M.C., aid was indefatigable in his endeavours to promote the enjoyment and pleasure of the visitors:. Mr McKerney, from Cambridge, supplied the music, which left nothing to be desired. At intervals between the dances numerous songs were given, and these were thoroughly appreciated.
