♦ (by electric telegraph-copyright.) November 17. Mrs Vennell, who was taken in custody on tbe charge of murderous assault on her children at Mary* borough, has been acquitted. Adelaide, November 18, Sir James Fergusson has arrived here from London, and after a brief stay in Australia, goes on to New Zealand. He states that the announcementof his son's arrest on a charge of setting fire to Trinity College, at Glenalraond in Scotland, was Inaccurate,, and he received a cable at Colombo that his son bad been in some trouble, but the matter had been settled almost immediately. Brisbane, November 18. Hall, the chief officer, ,and three of the crew of the William Hanson, have been arrested on a charge of kidnappi ing natives in the Pacific Islands. Warrants have also been issued for the arrest of three others. November 19. A quantity of wreckage, bearingthe name "Coral Queen," in yellow letters on a blue ground, has come ashore at Mackay, situated on the south bank of the Pioneer River, 625 miles north of here. ■ Sydney, November 19. The Herald, commenting on the New Zealand village settlement report, regards the system as an indisputable success, and compares it with the unfavourable results attained in Australia. ( Captain Yos, skipper of the William Mansou, has been arrested in Sydney on a similar charge to the others. Hobaet, November 19. The attendance at the Exhibition is not up to expectations.
