The Typo* graphical Association has requested the men not to enter upon an agreement with the masters without consulting the society., The masters are not likely to submit the matters in dispute to a conference, because the men refused such a course some time ago. Between 500 and 600 men are affected.

Adelaide, September 22, The smelters' strike has collapsed, the men resuming work at lower ratesthan those ruling before the strike. The Btiike is officially declared off' in the Western district. The chairman of the local camp states that the' embittered condition of the men islargely due to their failure to get. work, and further outrages are probable. He attributes the loss of theday to disaffection among the Unionists themselves. The Government in* tend to relieve tha distress among the= strikers.
