An esteemed contributor who takes an. interest ia totalisator statistics, having gone through the figures published in .connection with, tie thirty three racing -..days that have taken place within the Auckland Provincial district since October last, lias ascertained that an investment of'£l upon the favourite in each race, ■would have involved a total investment. of : £231, and have resulted in a.nett loss of j .. £1517s- In respect to the application of more "complicated racing systems, the same authority informs, us, that by 1 mathematical rule, No, 1, an investment of £374, resulted in a loas of £l3 4s; rule No. 2, showing investments £ll2, loss £l6 16s; rule No; 3, investments were £152, loss £9l6s, It is only fair to add that for the previous year the samo rules gave' : profits of from five to 15 per cent.
